I have done a search of Lactnet, and unless it was listed under something
other than smallpox or CDC, I did not see a discussion of the CDC
recommendations for breastfeeding and the vaccine.

I am NOT wanting to start a discussion on the merits of getting the vaccine
now or in the near future. I am just wanting to ask your opinion about
what the RESEARCH says/shows that would provide the CDC with the background
to state:

"Women who are breastfeeding should not get this vaccine. This applies to
women who are breastfeeding as well as pumping and bottle feeding breast
milk."

http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/smallpox/vaccination/pdf/preg-contra.pdf

Due to the fact that I work with the Public Health Department, I am part of
the team that is reviewing the information videos and material.

I am aware that there is a risk of exposing a child to the vaccinia if one
touches the site and then touches another part of one's own body (some
horrible pictures of eye smallpox infections are in the video) or that of
someone else - of whatever age - would be in great danger: and there are
also recommended barriers and procedures to follow to prevent this.

However, I wanted clarification on the "pumping and feeding breast milk".
