Dawn, you asked if I was "finding" the rural bf population to be
heterogeneous--part of my problem is that I am not *finding* the rural bf
population. period! <g> Actually, I am just now beginning to find women who are
bf here and am learning clues where to look for them. It is slow, though, and
requires a fair amount of gumption. It is taking me some time to get the layout
of the land, as it were, and I have not felt like I understood the area enough
yet to go full steam ahead. The culture shock is beginning to fade though....

Your story about the mom who had experienced sexual abuse sounds vaguely
familiar but I cannot remember the context. Seems like one of my LC buddies in
Atlanta had dealt with a similar problem. It would make sense for someone to
react like that given those circumstances. I'd like to think that the numbers
would not be too great, though, although that may not be at all realistic. I
don't know. It is the breast-as-a-sex-object taken to a sad extreme.

Making that mom feel good about what she could do (pump) was a sensitive
response on your part. She is lucky to have worked with someone so caring!
