I work with a woman whose granddaughter  has been exclusively
breastfeeding her daughter very successfully.  Previous weight gain has
been excellent.  Baby will be 6 months in a few days. Suddenly the baby
started refusing one side. Grandma said she got them a pump right away
and Mom has been pumping. The refused side has only yielded 1/2 oz.,
while the other side gives 5 oz. Baby acts hungry after breastfeeding
and Mom started cereal (but she's not happy about it because she wanted
to wait until 6 months).  There are no lumps or any signs of plugged
ducts or mastitis on the affected side.  Mom has been pumping
regularly.  Grandma mentioned also that the baby had poor weight gain
over the last 3 weeks, only 5 oz.  Which makes me think maybe the
supply was dwindling until the baby decided it wasn't worth the effort.
  I am stumped as to why the supply would drop on one side only.  Mom is
young - about 18.  Any suggestions?  I told her Mom should keep pumping
and maybe try some More Milk.
