It sounds as if Jean's baby does have some injury to the jaw, prob. at the
TMJ. Anyone who has ever had the exper. of injury at the TMJ will attest to
how uncomfortable this is. This should be evaluated. In the meantime,
protect the milk supply and feed pumped milk to baby until jaw is stable and
mom can tolerate his sucking. An injured infant will change how they suck
to compensate for his/her inability to feed normally. These compensations
can feel very painful.
