I enjoy reading the cartoon strip "Baby Blues" where the family has a new
baby and breastfeeding is prominently featured. I was disappointed, though,
with one last week, especially since we'd been discussing weaning on
Lactnet. Since I didn't see anyone mention the strip in previous posts, I
thought I'd write it up for you all.

Mother: "Seriously, when do you think we should start weaning Hammie?"
Father: "I don't know...a lot of pedatricians are saying that infants should
be breast-fed for at least a year."
Mother: "A YEAR?" [Baby is at breast throughout..] ."Six more months?..."
Father: "Well, I don't think pedatricians would recommend it unless they had
good reasons."
Mother: "I don't think pedatricians SHOULD recommend it unless they have
BREASTS!"

The strip a couple of days ago, redeemed it a bit:

Father: "What does Hammie have in his hands?"
Mother: "(Sigh) Trucks. He found them in Zoe's room this morning and he
hasn't let go of them since. I don't think he even put them down while I fed
him."
Father: "Oh...good. Then that explains the tire tracks across your chest."

I'll bet a few of you have nursed while having a vehicle of some kind driven
over your chest, although I sure don't recall it happening with a 6 month old!
