Hi all,

I am back after a year and a half of no mail. I took a position with the
WIC Program and got too busy. I wanted to comment on hurricane Andrew.

My youngest child was three months old when the storm hit and our
house was destroyed. That night I had only a tee-shirt on because I didn't
pack a special bag for the event (who would have thought their clothes in
the closet and dressers wouldn't be safe). The funny thing was the shirt
read on front, "Moms" on back "perfectly packaged
pacifier" It was very appropriate and brings home disaster
prevention- You only think about people in a disaster;thank god I was
packaged with food and pacifier. We went without contact for several days.
It was money and transportation that got us help. Our entire neighborhood
was not on government maps and therefore got no aid until one day(about
three weeks later) an army official noticed us and was shocked that there
was a neighborhood in that location.
