Hi Lactnetters,
A mother has requested info. about medications for Androgenetic
allopecia. This is genetically caused hair fall-out. The mother had
very little hair until her pregancy, but the hormone changes improved
that. Now, however, her daughter is 8 months old and her hair is
again beginning to disappear, about 500 hairs a day.
What is a (the) recommended topical treatment for breastfeeding
mothers with this problem? Apparently there is a high blood pressure
drug which works against hair falling out, but it is not available in
Germany, only in Switzerland.
This woman is very appreciative of any help you can give. Please
e-mail me privately as I am no-mail.
Many thanks,
Anne Kaeser, BA, IBCLC
