I am in full agreement with Kathy Dettwyler's post on the downside of
schedules. We had incredible freedom with our kids when they were
little. We could go visiting and stay as long as we liked, stop at a
diner at 3 am, take the kids camping, and our kids were cheerful and
wonderful. A relative of mine who got her kids used to being in their
own crib at a certain hour was in for horrors if they were still out at
that time.
