I've seen several moms with HELLP syndrome who were too ill to bf 
postpartum and relactated just fine. I would encourage mom use the 
supplementer from the beginning of the feeding with all feedings except 
perhaps the night ones so the baby will suck more effectively with the 
greater flow, and to pump either after bf or about an hour later to 
superstimulate her breasts. Once she starts making more milk, the 
supplementer can remain closed for the first few minutes on each breast.
