Our hospital generally only allows bottles for supplemental feedings for preterm babies in NICU/SCN. Recently had a mom who insisted on not using bottles. Baby was born around 34wks. Was breastfeeding all along but often without much transfer. We began using SNS for finger feeding after feeds at breast.

Looking for any research out there that backs up the safety of this for preterms. I feel comfortable with watching baby, etc. but the nurses and doctors are very resistant to anything other than bottles after breast.

Thanks
