I tried to do a search, as I did find a question about this (in 2000), but
didn't find the responses...

A mom stopped me to ask about her 19 month old little girl who had recently
(last 2 months) developed breast buds. Her pediatrician is blaming it on
breastfeeding and told her to wean so that they can see if that is it.
(When in doubt - blame the breastfeeding). If not, he tells her he would
start checking the baby for tumors in the ovaries.

Needless to say the mom is terribly worried - because she does not believe
it is the breastfeeding, does not want to wean, and wants additional tests
to be run SOONER rather than later.

I have dealt with LOTS of breast buds in newborns, and in Puerto Rico we
dealt with a lot of children with early development which was finally
blamed on the hormones given the chickens, but I have not dealt with this
in the US. Any suggestions?
