Hi Ann,
I don't know what part of the country you and this mom live in, but it does
matter! Dark-skinned moms who swaddle or otherwise completely cover their
infants (my Muslim moms particularly) and who live in northern
climes...those definitely need supplements. In Georgia, I encourage a
little sunbathing in indirect light with their tummies exposed...that's all
they need! Very dark-skinned babies and moms...well, I'd have to probably
supplement them as well.
