Without an obvious source of the bleeding, she should be evaluated to rule
out breast cancer; acknowledging the caveat that medical and surgical
training is not up to speed on breastfeeding issues, I've always been
taught that bloody nipple discharge is cancer until proven otherwise.
I'll be interested to hear the outcomes of her workup either way.

Has she been able to pinpoint the source of the bleeding?  Is it
superficial, from a laceration of the nipple, or is it coming from the
ducts?
