Hello everyone,

I just got the newsweek from September 22 in the mail. It has a large topic on childrens' health. One section called Global View - Where living is
lethal (page 78), deals with the health issues of children in developing countries and gives a couple of numbers of diseases children die of. And a
couple of suggestions how to fight this number. Unfortunately, there is np mention of breastfeeding being a part of the strategy to reduce
childhood mortality as a result of neonatal infections and diarrhea. Ha anyone teh figures that tell how many children can possibly saved by
exclusive breastfeeding and extended breastfeeding? I would like to compose a letter to the editor, but I am not good at presenting the math. If
anyone feels the urge to help me with this: please feel free to do so. :) There is also a section on allergies and asthma. The AAP is cited with
regard to exclusive breastfeeding for six months and the prevention of allergen load by mothers restricting their diet while nursing. Interestingly,
the article also mentions that pregnant women should avoid eating peanuts.
