I remember attending a Chele Marmet conference were it was said that green
discharge over a long period of time, could mean a cyst or be related to
allergies.

I just attended a Kitty Frantz conference in Vermont. She gave us a hand-out
called Breastfeeding and Ceasarean section. At the end of this hand-out she
has an extensive list of drugs for the management of pain after c-section.

Birth control pills containing both estrogen and progesterone are not
recommended during BF. Although some studies say they can be taken after six
weeks. Many mothers complain of decrease milk production while on birth
control pills. There could be other factors involved in the problem, but it
is likely that the pill is causing the BF problems.

I wonder if this mother has fibrocystic breasts??? I do, and I suffer from
engorgement during every menstrual cycle...Avoidance of cafeine and a good
diet helps. I would never dream of trying to express...I am sure I would get
secretions going and cause myself more pain. Also, it is not considered to
be a "lactating breast" if she has to really work at the breast to get
secretions out. Spontaneous leaking is what is ususally called galacthorrea
and pathological. Can others comment???
