Can any one help me with this one?
I saw a one week old who is on iron supplements because of a bleed at birth.
The pediatrician says the baby will need to be on this supplement for at
least 3 months. I can not remember what the baby's Hgb level was but it was
definately below normal.
I know that iron fortified formulas can interfer with the absoption or us of
mom's breast milk irons especially the Lactoferon.
Can any one tell me is mom's milk adequate to reverse anemia? If so ( which
I believe is possible ) how long would this take to get baby back to a normal
Hgb level? Can any one direct me to some references? Thanks.
