In a message dated 97-09-21 22:33:22 EDT, you write:

<< sometimes the ob declined to prescribe
medication, in one case the pediatrician wrote orders that nothing be
administered to the mother, even immediately post-op. Has anyone else
come across a sudden reluctance to prescribe analgesics? >>

Is this supposed to be a punishment for daring to breastfeed, or is this
supposed to be punishment for being a woman and needing a C/Section? I'm not
sure I understand what the problem is here. Will the next thing be not
giving her any anesthesia to have the C/Section? Are these OBs just as
reluctant to give any woman pain medication in labor (ha ha) because of the
potential effect on the fetus? Of course, you bet your boots that if ther is
to be nothing given to the woman post partum, there will be decrease in
breastfeeding.

I can't believe it.

Jan B, incredulous in Wheaton.
