I think that today's society assumes that a woman who doesn't menstruate
has something wrong with her and it could just be that this is what is going
to be normal for this mother's body. I'm just wondering if it's a case of
worrying about nothing. I do know that PCOS can affect a woman's cycle so
perhaps there is a concern more from that standpoint but in general, going
21 months w/o periods doesn't sound like something to sound the alarm
over.

Yes I find it interesting that if lactational amenorrhea occurs naturally
as a result of a baby's breastfeeding it must be wrong/bad, but then we have
these new oral contraceptives whose claim to fame, at least partly, is the
idea of only getting 4 periods a year or no periods in a year....

(http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/features/new-no-period-no-pms-birth-control-pills) Apparently if it's drug-induced it's good. When
these first came out I wondered if this was a move, even subconsciously
perhaps, to replicate the normal lactational amenorrhea that so many women miss by
not having breastfeeding babies, either at all, for long, or exclusively,
so they miss out on this. natural break from higher estrogen cycling.

Peace,
Judy, who got her periods back before 6 months while nursing exclusively,
and felt gypped...:)
