Hi, all!

Back from the holiday weekend (burp!), and trying to get the collection of
teaching guides I'm writing for Mosby polished.

I've hit a "dry spell" creatively--and so has my illustrator! Each guide has
its own cartoon on it, to highlight some point in the guide and/or put a smile
on the reader's face. For example, the guide on Sexually Transmitted Diseases
has a couple in bed, in full scuba gear (snorkel, mask, flippers, etc.). One
of them is saying to the other, "Honey, don't you think we're taking this safe
sex thing a bit too far?" The one on Bottlefeeding (yeah, I had to do it...
but it's got a lot of the things Jan talked about, like recording the lot
numbers in case there's a recall!) has a mom, bleary-eyed, at 2 in the morning
(according to the clock in the picture), with all the equipment (bottles,
nipples, can, scoop, etc.) around her, & she's thinking, "Maybe it would've
been easier to breastfeed!"

So. You get the idea. My problem: I have 4 guides on breastfeeding, & we
can't come up with anything that's funny AND "politically correct". The 4
guides are: 1) BF: Getting Started, 2) BF: Returning to Work, 3) BF: If
Problems Arise, and 4) BF: When to Wean.

Anyone interested in coming up with a funny scene (one panel, or a split
panel--they aren't giving me much room!), please contact me privately. I'd be
happy to call you & talk through more ideas, as well. And, if you'd like to
read the draft of one or two of the guides, I can email them to a FEW of you.
They've already been reviewed by 3 IBCLCs here in St. Louis, and are already
at the typesetter, so I can't change them now, but they might help one of you
"spark" on a funny illustration!

TIA for all your creative help--and prayers, for those of you who don't have
time or creative juices yourselves!

Smiles,

Carol S.
