I would add to what Kittie said:

Remember that the mom's successes aren't YOUR successes.  It was not you that
got up in the middle of the night and continued feeding instead of following her
mom's suggestion and let her take the baby so she can sleep.  It was not you
that had to listen to the fussy baby and keep on breastfeeding when everyone
else told her baby would be fine - just give him a bottle.  It isn't your
nipples that feel like they're falling off and your body that is crying for lack
of sleep.

There are so many moms I've helped that have breastfed despite situations that I
wonder if I would have survived.  (Especially with the first baby when you're so
unsure of everything.)
