Thick-It is a product available through speech therapists who work with
people of all ages who aspirate when swallowing liquids.  My experience is
with a set of twin girls born at 37 weeks who were consistently aspirating
when at breast.  They eneded up in NICU because of this.

One baby started out on it right away.  Her stools became like lava, few and
far between.  At one point she was so distended that she did not sleep for
over 24 hours (at six weeks of age) and went to the ER.  All the docs and
therapists said this was not caused by the Thick-It however.  The second
twin was on NG feeds of straight breastmilk at first and graduate to
thickened breastmilk at 2 month.  She did not have this problem with her
stools.
