Regardless of BFHI, regardless of the [WHO] International Code, healthcare
providers and institutions should not use healthcare- or
breastfeeding-related educational materials prepared by any commercial
interest because it is a professional conflict of interest to do so.

When you hand out materials with the logos and brands of commercial
interests, you are "bathing their product with the legitimacy of your
profession," as I like to say. Those companies are MORE than happy to have
you do so, because that makes you/your facility an on-site, year-round,
unpaid member of their marketing staff. No wonder those companies earn
billions of dollars a year; they have a volunteer workforce of tens of
thousands of HCPs.

I mean, c'mon. You have an IBCLC on staff, and you want to give a mom a
handout about milk expression? Or how to latch? Why in the heck would you
NOT have your OWN paid staff person write it up, and put it on glossy paper
with the logo of your hospital or birthing center? "Hand Expression, by Liz
Brooks IBCLC of Happy Hospital, Inc." Wouldn't you rather have a
client/patient go home with marketing images of your facility ... instead
of a company?
