Hi,
I was excited about reading about the dialogue with Larry Meeks.

However I take great exception with the comment on Fluoridation and its
relationship to ADD/ADHD. I am a pediatrician who consults to two mental
health programs for children in Modesto (one that provides early intervention
services for children 0-5, the other is an ADHD/ADD service provider). I am
also active with the Fluoridation Coalition in my County (I live in a county
that does not have Fluoride in the water).

There has been considerable literature review of the impacts of Fluoridation
on child health. Neither the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Dental
Association or the World Health Organization support that fluoride has a
negative impact on child development or other aspects of child and adult
health.

ADD/ADHD are definitely the "label" in vogue currently. Many children with
this "label" have other mitigating circumstances including drug and alcohol
in utero exposure. Causality is a difficult thing to prove-especially if one
is looking at the behavioral issues. Many factors come into play (in utero
exposure to substances including tobacco, parent infant interaction,
breastfeeding duration, domestic violence just to name a few). I am very
cautious when I read studies that ascribe everything to one factor.

I am very interested in finding the citation for the journal article by
Phyllis Mullinex (?sp).
Fluoride information links can be found via the AAP, ADA and other
professional organizations.
