Call me a cynic, Nicole, but I'd follow the money. Do you think perhaps the pharmaceutical companies did a lobbying job on the FDA?

Just think, if more moms experience side effects from only having Reglan as a choice, those moms will switch to formula. Then the pharmaceutical companies not only sell the formula, but they also get to sell the drugs to treat all the conditions that are more likely to happen later in life when people aren't breastfed as babies/children.

You might also look at where Domperidone and Reglan are made. Is one a US-made drug? I don't know.

Subject: Domperidone - Nancy Wight

One thing I do not understand about Domperidone is that it appears to
be prohibited as a galactogogue (despite its lack of side-effects)
because this it was not designed for this purpose. Yet, cytotec (which
has been demonstrated to be associated with uterine rupture in VBACs)
continues to be widely used to induce labor even though it too was not
designed to be used to induce labor. It is as though whatever will
benefit women is prohibited whereas whatever benefits doctors can get
away with unthinkable abuse.
