Karleen,

I almost posted the same question last Thursday night!

Just this past Thursday, August 23rd, my sister in law was told her baby had
changed from head down to the transverse position ( belly down, head on
right, feet on left). Doc wanted to do an emergency c- section because she
is due on the 30th and he will be on vacation. She said NO! I'll wait a
week!

She first tried the knee-chest position, kneeling and leaning
forward until your head rests on your folded arms (your head will be
lower than your bottom). You may have to spread your knees to accommodate
your late-pregnancy abdomen. Assume this position for 15 minutes, three
times a day, the first time before arising in the morning and preferably
with a full bladder. The slight weight of the full bladder is thought to
encourage the fetus to turn. Do this for 7 days.

She also would lie in this tilt position for 10 minutes twice a day. With
an empty stomach lie on your back on the floor, knees bent so that feet are
flat on the floor, the mother puts three good-sized pillows under her
bottom. Once the baby has turned discontinue the exercise.

She went in to be checked today (Aug. 29th) because she wanted this doctor
to do the c-section, if it had to be done, before his vacation tomorrow.
Her baby has returned to head down! Now she is just hoping she (a little
girl is expected)will stay this way until delivery. The doc actually said
'let's just let nature take it's course'. (Probably because he is going to
be on vacation now). Hooray! Whether these exercises worked or helped is a
mystery but hopefully they will help your sister in law, too

Cheryl Marian
