Yes this does make sense. Some 20+ years ago I was breastfeeding my firstborn
knowing nothing about lactation as an art let alone as a science, I always
masaged my breast on that spot (UOQ) with the opposite hand, while holding my
baby on the arm on the side she was suckling. And I did this more on the
better-producing breast! I now recognise that I did do a kind of
breastcomporession combined with breast exam on hard spots (plugged ducts).
Although I'm right handed, I only or mostly did it on my right breast (so
with my left hand) doing it on the left breast did not feel comfortable. I
don't know why.
