Just on a personal note, I was given everything except an epidural or
c-section when I was in labor. Pitocin from about an hour after I
arrived, after being given morphine (which slowed my labor) then after
pit, I had stadol, then more pit, then blood pressure went wacko! Then
came Mag. Then more pit, more stadol, then a switch to demorol (yep,
wrong order, but they said it had been 2 hours since stadol, so demorol
would be okay.) The point of this is that even with ALL this, (and it
wont happen next time!) my milk was still in by about 26 hours PP, due to
a WONDERFUL nurse (who had bf twins) who had me nursing every 1-2 hours!
I think a lot of the problems with delayed lactogenesis in relation to
pit/narcotics is due to mom "sleeping it off" and not breastfeeding very
often in the first days, rather than the drugs themselves. Just MHO!
