  I have heard from men who were circumcised as adults or teens that it did
reduce their sensitivity over time, after a short time of the exposed glans
being painfully sensitive.  None of these men were circed for religious
reasons, but rather due to medical misinformation.  I also know one immigrant
who decided to be circ'ed to look "American", he is happy that he had it done.
        I suspect strongly that the perception of the value of circumcision is
influenced by the reason it is done, and the autonomy of the decision making-
men who were previously prohibited from following their religion were pleased
with the outcome, those who were pressured into it on spurious medical grounds
were not.  Reminds me of the study of satisfaction with birth experiences -
the moms who perceived themselves as in control of their birth were more
satisfied than those who perceived their health care provider as being in
control; despite the use of interventions.  In other words, mothers who freely
chose interventions were happy with them and with the birth, those who had
interventions forced on them were dissatisfied.
