I don't know whether yeast in human milk that has been frozen is risky to
an infant who is well. There is some thought that if a person has a healthy
immune system and drinks any substance with candida in it she will not
develop an overgrowth of candida because of the healthy flora in her gut.

That makes sense to me because we always have candida in our GI tracts
along with healthy bacteria and we get an imbalance when the healthy
bacteria is depressed or the yeast is nourished (as with too much sugar
during holidays). Antibiotics and too much sugars do weaken the immune
system inviting an overgrowth of yeast.

However, if I have worked with a client in restoring her and her infant's
guts to proper balance she is usually afraid to use milk that had a lot of
yeast in it. I appreciate her caution and I don't know how tenuous the
balance is in her infant's gut. I tell her that I don't know whether it is
a threat, but that she can scald this milk before feeding it to her baby
and can be assured that the yeast is killed by the heat.
Most of my clients do the scalding. A few discard the milk, especially if
they have good milk supplies.
