I am forwarding this post from the co-ordinator of our mother-to-mother
breastfeeding assistance group:

my 1 yr old has had a cold- stuffy nose w/ cough in the chest(mucousy)
for 10days. SHe also had her 5th tooth pop out and 6-8 are in swollen
gums. for the past month she has on ocassion biten me while nursing.
also bites my shoulder, leg. Remove her from biten part and I say -
Ouch! We dont bite. 2 days ago she woke me up biting while nursing. I
took her off. then reattach, when she bit again. End of morning nursing
and she cried off and on all morning. She was very upset crying,
pushing away from me and my embrace, trying to bite me, wouldd roll
around on the bed and would fall off if we didnt move her. Put her on
the floor and she rolls and bumps into the cabinets or bumps her head
on the ground. My family had some upseting news re: cancer in my
mother-in-law. My 1yr old settled this day after a dose of chamollia
homeopath remedy/being held by her nanny and me giving the cancer news
to my husband. She was ok the rest of the day and nursed fine that eve
when I returned and during night. Next day was fine for nursing.

today, Gabi woke up biting me during nursing again. She cried off and
on for an hour. She didn't want to nurse before I left for work. Cried
when I left. I returned 5hrs later, (normal separation time) she was
happy to see me. I held her we talked for a bit I went upstairs
carrying her and she started to cry when I offered to nurse. She did
the rolling around/bumping stuff again. Also she would grab the back of
her head by her ears. No fever. I developed a tiny blood blister on the
nipple last night. Gabi cried for an hour wouldnt nurse. I left, she
slept. She was happy upon my return. I offered breast, she didnt want
to nurse. 12 hrs now and why should a 1 yr old push me away?? Any
suggestions. [log in to unmask]
