I haven't seen anyone mention an article in the Lancet, vol 353, April 10, 1999:

Efficacy of home-based peer counselling to promote exclusive breastfeeding: a
randomised controlled trial, by Morrow et al.

This was done in Mexico, in a periurban area, where BFI is influencing hospital
practice. Three peer counsellors were trained for the study, by LLL. There were
three groups: one control group who received no visits, one group received 6
visits (2 in preganacy, 4 after, another 3 visits (late pregnancy and 2 early
after the birth).

"At 3 months post partum, exclusive breastfeeding was practised by 67% of the
6-visit, 50% of the 3-visit and 12% of the control group. Duration of bfing was
significantly longer in intervention than in controls".

Has anyone read this?
