I am delighted with Joyce's story about the 5 S's.

In the next Lacnet, however, Jay Grdon mistakenly named his post in
response to Joyce's success story "misuse of the 5 S's." Actually, what
Joyce described was the PERFECT use of the 5 S's to come to the rescue
of distraught, crying babies. This technique is simply a return to the
ancient wisdom and a way of empowering health professionals and new
parents (what mom wouldn't want to learn how to easily calm her baby).

More accurately, Jay's post should have been entitled the "misuse of
hospital power" because these babies should not be rounded up like
cattle to wait hungry and cold for the convenience of nurses and
doctors.
