On a personal note, I experienced this for the first two months of my
daughter's life. Severe anxiety and borderline anger and even some disgust
that she wanted to nurse so often....because it hurt! My own letdowns were
so forceful and were accompanied by such an intense "squeeze" that I thought
of weaning. Much more painful than a mammogram. As she has gotten older
and my supply has regulated better the intensity of the letdowns has greatly
improved and so has my mental reaction to the anticipated letdown. Let me
know if this sounds like the case of your mom and I'd love to talk to her by
email if you like.
Take care,
Debbie Grant
