<The lactation consultant in our local milk bank says she has found some women producing loads of milk due to Staph A. When they are treated with appropriate antibiotics their milk supply goes right down.>

Huh??? Will someone please explain what these two things have to do with each other?? Regardless of whether the subject is under the heading of "hy-PO-prolactinaemia", as this is, whereas the previous two posts this week were under the heading of hy-PER-prolactinemia.

I still don't understand any implied connection of a large milk supply "due to Staph A" infection (Was infection perhaps the cause of marked swelling from inflammation rather than "swelling" being from a large supply??). Although could treatment with appropriate ABX have been erroneously accompanied by less frequent pumping, which could THEN have been a cause of reduction in supply?

I think this needs further explanation in order for Lactnet readers to have an appropriate understanding. This quote may have been merely "hearsay" of a supposition by the person quoted. I would love to stand corrected if there is any new information on relationship of breast infection causing an implied, large supply and reduction of supply itself with Abx Rx of the infection, without specifics of the frequency of pumping before, during and after treatment of the infection.
