To be quite honest... I'm not very pleased with all the reactions stating
the importance of organisations putting pressure on Medela and many others,
instead of individuals.
Of course, that is important; but is that ground not to support individuals
who want to address the issue in their own working environment...?
Is the fact that governments or institutions should safeguard all kinds of
things, reason for individuals to stand by, raise their hands in protest and
say: "You should do something, government/organisations/whoever!"...?! I
want to make my own contribution and was hoping to get support for that good
intention, especially on this list.
I find it disappointing not yet having gotten the message: "Marianne, what
is your home address? I'll send you the brochure today by express mail. Good
luck with your meeting."
You can do the one thing and not leave the other. One person *can* make a
difference, in many situations.
Sorry, for sounding a bit angry; if we all would wait for others to change
the world, whatever world, and try and help good processes along, nothing
happens... Change the world, start with yourself; do what *you* can do and
give your best. That is what I would like to stand by and why I am about to
leave to a difficult meeting in order to improve lactation help and to
prevent lc's from saying: "That mother should just endure her pain", even if
I'm not sure the *organisation* is going to understand my bottom line. I
want to give my point of view, on behalf of those mothers and babies who are
not in the position I am in.

Kindly,

Marianne Vanderveen, Netherlands
