For the mother who is considering weaning a twin and wonders if
she should wean them both to avoid preferential treatment:

I have a twin brother who was breastfed while I was not. He was over
7 pounds at birth and I was less than 5 pounds, so he went home with
Mama while I stayed behind in the incubator for a few days and of
course he was healthier and happier as an infant. I love my brother, we
have a good relationship and I also love my mother, (in fact we moved
back to my hometown and into a house on her street to
raise our family). In our case there were gender differences so
that it seemed natural that we were not treated the same, but I never
felt I was treated unfairly. My brother did better than me in school
and sports, but after he skipped a grade and I had to do the work
myself I became agood student and finished 6 years of university
without difficulty. My mother has become my greatest breastfeeding
proponent (even when I was nursing a three year old) because she saw
it as the easiest and healthiest way of nourishing and nurturing a
baby.
