A few years ago a LLL friend of mine had her 6th child and she was also born
with two bottom teeth. baby nursed very well but we always had a problem
getting this little one to gain weight well. seems in some cases along with
the teeth comes a boarderline hyperthyroid condition. The mom had
successfully nursed longterm (way over 1 year all of her other children.

I have never heard about the fear of aspiration of these teeth, initally they
seem a bit loose but will stablize in a few weeks and if baby is properly
postioned no sore nipples should result.

back to my baby born with teeth. the slow wt gain was not due to lack of
milk, i always suspected a metabolic condition dr was in a hmo and unwilling
to blame anyone else expect mom's poor supply??? or do any tests other than
basic thyroid which were boarderline for being high.

she easily pumped over 30 oz per day -- only pumping 4x's per day (double
pumping with a lactina for only 5 minutes each time) and nursing the little
one on cue up to 10 times per day, lots of wets and plenty of normal looking
stools but very slow wt gain. I know -- I would not have believed it if I had
not seen it my self and done the twice weekly wt checks myself on my own
scale.

We finally got this little one to gain wt better (never really great) by
letting mom's milk stand and pouring off the cream and feeding her 6-8-12oz of
cream per day out of a cup after every other nursing session She really did
not change her pattern even after she started stealing food from everyone's
plate at six months.

When mom moved from town baby was still below the 7th percentile on wt gain
but smart as a tack and as bright as could be.
