Is there any danger to infant?  Not usually, unless bleeding is excessive
(very rare).  Most moms freak, knowledgeable MDs do not are usually
reassure. Less knowledgeable ones make the standard comment:wean.
It can be reduced markedly with elimination of whatever in the mother's
diet (usually dairy + beef) that is causing the baby's reaction.  Other
elements that can contribute are high citrus acid foods (lots oand lots of
oranges, for example), wheat (and similar glutens: ever heard of gluten
intolerance?), eggs.

In some cases, mothers will be asked to give baby a lactose-free milk. This
can be done at breast via SNS. I had a mom who did this and her baby was
fine with this combo for several months. When she started solids, problem
had resolved, but she wasVERY CAREFUL re: kinds/amounts of solids
introduced.  For good reason.  KGA
