Dear Rebecca Williams: Too much of a good thing can indeed be as bad as too
little. I have had good luck following the philosophy that if you can wean
completely then you can certainly also wean partially -- which is what this
mom needs to do. Standard advice is to have mom feed on one breast only for
a couple of feeds then switch. This works for moderate oversupply. For
severe oversupply try having her feed on one breast only for 12 hours then
switch. She should express the bare minimum from the second breast to avoid
extreme discomfort.

We always tell moms to avoid antihistamines when generating a supply.
Oversupply can be a moment to suggest an antihistamine at night.

I hear sage tea helps but have no experience re use.
