I am an IBCLC in Charlottesville VA and have posted before a few times
but most just read and learn. I have permission to post from a mom I have worked
with who is noticing her areolas have remained swollen with pumping. She been
pumping because her baby never latched. She has had bouts with thrush which
seems to be resolved. Last epidose she was treated w/ Difucan and APNO which
has reolved the yeasty looking nipples and the deep breast pain she had. She
says now she has a slight ache only which I attribute to the after effects. Her
big complaint is the appearance of swollen nipples. She is using now the extra
large shields as the others were too uncomfortable. I suggested cold after
pumping to reduce inflammation. I was wondering if anybody else had any other
ideas? I have tried an archive search but did not get results. Thank you for your
help.
