Karen,
I have a mom in my BF moms' support group whose baby was diagnosed with
diabetes at 5 days!  Dad was newborn diabetic too!  Just tell this mom
that WHEN she gets this baby back to breast, not IF, it will be so good
for both of them.  The mom I work with tested for blood sugars even while
at the group and injected insulin as needed so matter of factly that
sometimes new moms weren't even aware.  I'm sure she'd be willing to
"talk" to the mother you're working with when things get settled down for
her--if she wishes.  Her little guy turned 1 in January and is doing
great.  Walked at about 10 months!
