It is an interesting discussion about asthma and breastfeeding, and
protective effects of bf against asthma. I think that it would be
interesting if someone with experience, such as Laurie, would do a
literature review (brief) on this for us...

I find that being able to read the literature in a critical way is
inherent to understanding whether or not studies are actually
effectively proving and/or supporting their hypotheses.

I welcome a discussion of this and other studies so that we, as
lactation professionals, can become better critical analyzers, and not
simply accepting of "conclusions" drawn.

Laurie, would this be something you are interested in?

I did a search this morning at PubMed that came up with a brand new
study correlating early use of infant multivitamin with increased asthma
and other atopic food allergies.

Pediatrics. 2004 Jul;114(1):27-32. Links

Risk for Food Allergy and Asthma.
