May 19, 1997, Governor Christine Todd Whitman quietly signed bill S-1212 (a
bill that would protect a woman's right to breastfeed her baby in any place
she has the right to be) INTO LAW!!!!!!!!!

It is now known as PL (Public Law) 1997, Chapter 101.

My many thanks to everyone who wrote, telephoned, e-mailed, or in any other
way corresponded with their legislators' and/or the Governor's office.
Together, we have made it happen for breastfeeding mothers and their babies
throughout the state.

While now, the hard work is finished, we need to keep the fact that this is
law in our mind so that when women express their fears of breastfeeding in
public or contact any of us that they have been harrassed, we can give them
the current information.
