Had one mom who bled out post c-sec and received 22 pints (!) of blood
before the problem vein was located and fixed.  I got pretty much the same
response from ICU nurses, but it was ordered so they did it, dad helped
too.  She went on to nurse the baby (no Sheehan's - possibly because of
continuous replacement???).  She and I discussed the possibility of AIDS
(this was late 1980's) and that virus is more virulent when first
contracted.  Her theory was she had missed so much she wasn't going to miss
BF, and if she and baby got AIDS so be it.  My last contact was when  baby
was about 5 mo old and being a great little nurser.  Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
