I missed the original posting as I was nomail, but I have a comment to
make.  (Not really lactation-related - sorry).

Although I agree with Janette that breastfeeding is a wonderful way to
suppress ovulation, I hope that whoever was looking at ways to suppress
ovulation won't continue to believe that they can arrest the depletion of
their store of eggs.  Women are born with a finite number of egg cells.
My understanding from the physiology I learned (too long ago) is that
these will be depleted no matter what she does. When a woman's ovulation
is suppressed, whether it be by oral contraceptives, pregnancy or
lactation,the eggs which would have ovulated during those cycles die off.
