Dear all,

I read the post about Mead-Johnson's concern about the increased
usage of water bottles and the need to charge for them. I had to chuckle a
bit, because our hospital went through that entire scenario a couple of
years ago. We had been receiving free water bottles from Ross. The
salesperson informed us that their company would no longer be producing the
bottles (which I found out later was false) and that we needed to find a
substitute. Enter Mead-Johnson to help us out in our dilemma. They sold us
water bottles for a discounted rate of $1.00 per bottle. That is $1.00 per 4
ounce bottle. We needed something immediately so we had to use their
bottles. I went on a year long search (and 125,000 bottles later) and could
not find a glass substitute (that is what we wanted). Since we had to switch
to plastic, I choose the cheapest, but acceptable plastic container. We are
using 4 ounce containers from capitol vial (I have no financial interest).
The ones that we use do not screw on to the pump flange so the mom has to
transfer her milk carefully. These containers are half the price of the
containers that screw onto the flange. Our hospital also operates a donor
milk bank, so I am able to send these containers to donors as well as to
provide them to moms who have babies in our NICU. I have been down this road
and have accumulated a vast amount of knowledge. Please feel free to e-mail
me privately if you wish to. Thank you.
