Well, a mother breastfeeding a child where the *father* is nut-allergic might
not think she has to give up nuts. This was me. I have no known allergies,
but I knew that my child might take after his allergic father. I certainly did
not intend to try directly feeding my child nuts for years, if ever. But I did
not have any inkling that I shouldn't eat nuts myself while pregnant or bf. My
lack of knowledge unfortunately led to my then-9-month-old son having an
anaphylactic reaction to pecan proteins in my breastmilk.

Now older and wiser,

Margaret
