Sarah,

The first article from Pharmacy Times is the November, 1995 issue. He (Frank
Nice) lists Pepto Bismol as a "yes." By the way, I wrote and asked him why
he panned any and all preparations with Tylenol (acetominephan) in it, since
Tylenol was approved. He actually called me back -- very nice man -- and
essentially said he believed mothers should avoid medications with multiple
ingredients, including those with Tylenol, though taking Tylenol alone was
fine. Interestingly enough, in the December article, he lists Tylenol 325 mg
as OK, but Tylenol 500 mg as a no. I think he's concerned about the dosage.

although I personally don't agree with his assessment that a mom shouldn't
take Extra Strength tylenol or a cold medication that has Tylenol & one other
ingredient in it (assuming the other ingredient is OK for bf) -- oops, I did
a personal opinion without 1000 controlled, double blind studies published in
Pediatrics -- oh well, for what it is worth, I think (there's that thought
again) that the two articles, and the original one (Pharmacy Times, March,
1992) are a pretty good summary of OTC meds.

If you followed that last paragraph coherently, you've had more coffee than I
have had...
