Hello All,

Cross-posting and desperate for fast information:

A client (p2p) does NOT want to give her baby ABM and has chosen against her
husband’s wishes to give EBM/donor milk from safe donors. She did not tell
him initially because she knew what he would say, she is an MD, baby is in a
fragile state having NOT gained any weight for 4 wks until meeting me and
taking care of issues contributing to that. Her supply is ˝ what baby needs
at best.

The husband has ‘grave’ concerns about the risk of donor milk. Mom is flash
heating the donor milk to be extra safe. He is learning in his Nutrition
class (don’t get me started) the following:

leukemia. He says he looked up the risks and found that. He says that
something in the breast milk unlocks genes for leukemia. And he learned in
a nutrition course about genetic imprinting from breastmilk. (whatever that
means)

This parent seems to believe there are no risks from formula (as per their
Pediatrician…yeah don’t get me started on that one). I need any article
that I can get hands on in full – not abstracts – to share with this family.
This baby is one of those who, in my opinion, given the history REALLY needs
human milk and NOT formula. But formula is exactly what he will get to save
the marriage.

Thank you so very much!

Warmly,

Jaye
