Dear Friends,
It is my pleasure to inform you that I was chosen, during the WABA Global
Forum on Breastfeeding, in Bangkok, to be the coordinator of the World
Breastfeeding Week at the International level.
Or greatest concern is to decentralize actions, with the creation, whenever
possible, of regional and national coordination for the dispersal of
information about the events and theme of the WBW.
We have for sometime now observed (not only in Brazil, but in other
countries with which we have contact, and by way of this list) that the
greatest difficulty confronted by people and organizations who wish to
commemorate the WBW is access to information and material produced for the
event..
That is why we believe that the existence of "information dispersal centers"
for the WBW in every country is fundamental.
We also intend to produce a great number of matrices for the WBW material -
posters, action folders, videos - in diverse languages, so that they can be
reproduced within their own countries. We will soon have a homepage
dedicated exclusively to the WBW, with information on the theme and
suggestions for action.
We are elaborating action strategies for the international coordination of
the WBW, so, we would like to count on your collaboration, sending, ASAP, as
much information as possible about:
- The greatest difficulties encountered in the mobilization of the WBW in
your region (or country)?
- What are the solutions found for these problems in the previous years?
- What do you need most in order to develop an even better work during the Week?
- What suggestions might you have to make the work of the WBW international
coordination better?
I will also be very happy to answer any question you may have about the WBW.
Working together we will be more able to create a mobilization which will
really reach the entire world, as is the purpose of the WBW.
